Earthquake Risk Transfer for Romania

Earthquake Risk Transfer for Romania; Short-term earthquake loss
Fig.1 - Hashed circles represent current Earling undercover regions.

Romania has one of the highest seismic‐hazard levels in Europe. A recent study by Pavel et al. (2016), shows that around two‐thirds of the country has expected peak ground acceleration above 0.2 g. Finally, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook central Romania and the capital in the early hours of October 28, 2018. Earling has been issued several earthquake preparedness alerts for the undercover regions in Romania. One of them issued on October 27, 2018, a few hours before the October 28, M5.5 earthquake.
